Haval H4 SUV India

Great Wall Motors, Chinese automaker has confirmed its India entry via its social media profile – Twitter. The company will showcase a wide range of products under Haval SUV and Ora Electric brands at the Auto Expo 2020. It was speculated that the Haval H6 will be the brand’s first model in our market. However, few reports claim that the Haval H4 based SUV will be the first model in our market.

The Haval H4 SUV will directly rival the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks. In terms of proportions, the H4 SUV is 4,420mm in length, 1,845mm in width and 1,695mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,660mm. Dimensionally, the new SUV is similar to the Seltos and the Creta.

The Haval H4 SUV is based on the HR-02 concept, which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo. In the Chinese market, the SUV is available with 2 turbocharged petrol engines – a 1.3-litre and 1.5-litre. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While the former is good for 137bhp of power and 225Nm of torque, the 1.5L unit produces 166bhp and 285Nm of torque.

We believe that the India-spec model will receive the de-tuned version of the 1.5L petrol engine. The company could also introduce the diesel variant of the SUV. Both manual and automatic versions are likely to be on offer.
