It also has multiple segment-first features including multi-drive mode – City and Eco, Juke-Car app and Smart phone enabled Turn-By-Turn navigation app. It is available with two engine options – 84bhp, 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol and a 69bhp, 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder diesel. Maruti Swift

The Swift is currently the second best-selling & most popular hatchback in India. With new model, the brand has become more desirable. It is now available with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard safety features.

The new generation Swift is available with the same set of engines – 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre MJD diesel engines. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. The new model is broader and taller than the previous model, which ensures improved legroom and shoulder space for rear occupants. The wheelbase has also been increased, which also improves its luggage carrying capacity. It comes with a boot space of 316-litres, which is more than sufficient to accommodate 4 large suitcases.

In our 10,000 kms service report, we found that the regular maintenance cost of the new Figo costs about Rs 1703. This makes it slightly cheaper than the Maruti Suzuki Swift diesel. This hatchback is available with two engine options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel.

Maruti Baleno

In order to mark strong presence in the premium segment, Maruti Suzuki had launched the Baleno hatchback in the country. This model is sold through the company’s premium NEXA dealerships. It is based on Suzuki’s new generation platform that also underpins the Swift twins. This new model is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and stronger. Featuring new liquid flow design philosophy, the Baleno looks elegant and premium than the Swift hatchback.

The cabin of the car is premium and has good fit and finish. The all-black interior is sporty, which is complemented by solver inserts on the dashboard and door trims. There is plenty of space in the cabin for the five occupants. Adding to it, the hatchback has a large boot of 339-lires. The vehicle also has a touchscreen music system with navigation, rear parking camera and sensors. Dual front airbags and ABS with EBD comes standard across all variants.
