Harrier based 7-seater Tata Buzzard SUV caught high-altitude testing

the Tata Buzzard has been caught testing at the Khardung La – one of the highest motorable roads in the world.

It is no secret that Tata will launch the 7-seater version of the Harrier SUV in the country. Called the Tata Buzzard, the 7-seater SUV was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The India-spec model is likely to get a different name. The SUV has been spotted several times doing testing. This time, the Tata Buzzard has been caught testing at the Khardung La – one of the highest motorable roads in the world.

The Tata Buzzard will be launched as an all-new product and will be the brand’s new flagship model in India. The production version of the SUV will look similar to the near-production ready model at the Geneva Motor Show. In terms of styling, the Buzzard’s front fascia and overall styling looks largely identical to the Harrier. It also gets the dual-setup for the headlamp with sleek LED DRLs on the top and the main headlamp unit located lower in the bumper.

In terms of proportions, the Tata Buzzard is 4,661mm long, 1,894mm wide and 1,786mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,741mm. Compared to the Harrier 5-seater, the Tata Buzzard 7-seater SUV is around 63mm longer, 72mm wider and 80mm taller. The Tata Buzzard 7-seater SUV will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that also powers the Harrier. While powering the Harrier, this engine churns out 138bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. However, the Buzzard will be more powerful than the Harrier. It is expected to produce 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Buzzard will also receive a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
