Harley Davidson Street 500 launched in Indonesia; might come to India

Harley Davidson Street 500

Harley Davidson, the American automaker has launched the most affordable motorcycle from its portfolio- the Street 500 in the Indonesian market. With this bike, the maker aims to target the masses. Before this, the Street 750 was the most affordable bike from the American automaker. Both bikes are specifically developed to target the developing nations including Indonesia and India. We expect that the company might also launch this motorcycle in the Indian market.

Talking about styling, the Harley Davidson Street 500 looks largely similar to the street 750. It is powered by a liquid cooled, 494cc Revolution X 60-degree V-Twin engine that is good for 40Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a six-speed gearbox. The major difference between the Street 500 and 750 is the engine bore. While the Street 500 comes with a 69.0mm bore, the street 750 has an 85mm bore.

The motorcycle is launched to attract young enthusiasts, who love to buy an entry level cruiser. It is expected that the Harley Davidson Street 500 would hit Indian shores by mid-2015. This cruiser is likely to be priced under Rs. 4 lakh. The Harley Davidson measures 2,225mm in length and has a wheelbase of 1,534mm. It comes with a good ground clearance of 145mm. The fuel tank capacity is 13.1-litres, and the bike weighs 222kg.
