Great Wall Motors Is Coming To India With Haval H6 SUV
Great Wall Motors, Chinese automaker will officially enter into India in 2021 and is likely to launch the Haval H6 SUV
Seeing the growing Indian market, globally renowned automakers are now ready to enter into our country. It was speculated that the Chinese Great Wall Motors is planning to enter the Indian market. According to the Team-BHP, Great Wall Motors will officially launch its first model in India in 2021. While Korean brand Kia and British maker MG Motors will launch their respective products in 2019, French automaker Peugeot will make its way to our market in 2020.
The report further claims that the carmaker could launch the Haval H6 SUV as its first model in India. It is expected that Great Wall Motors will invest Rs 7,000 – 8,000 crore in India. The company will be setting up a manufacturing facility in Gujarat. Interestingly, the Chinese brand has already setup its R&D centre in Bangalore. It was reported Kaushik Ganguly, a former employee of Maruti Suzuki who was part of the product planning department, had joined the Chinese brand – Great Wall Motors.
Named after the Great Wall of China, the Chinese SUV marker headquartered in Baoding, Hebei, China. While the passenger vehicles and trucks are retailed under the Great Wall nameplate, the SUVs are sold under its subsidiary – Haval. It is expected that the company will initially start its India innings with Haval nameplate.
Haval, which primarily focuses on SUVs, is one of the four brands that come under the umbrella of Great Wall Motors. The Haval SUVs line-up includes the H2, H6, H6 Coupe and H9. It is expected that the Haval H6 mid-sized SUV could be the first to arrive in our market. In the international markets, the Haval H6 is available with 2 diesel engine options – 2.0-litre and 1.5-litre. While the former is capable of producing 188bhp and 340Nm of torque, the latter is good for 161bhp and 280Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
