Future Yamaha Bikes To Have RX100 Traits

According to the chairman of Yamaha Motor India, the future Yamaha bikes will have the character of the legendary RX100.

We informed you earlier that Yamaha is aiming at premium segment to strengthen its position in the highly competitive Indian market. The company will shift its focus from the mass market segment to premium segment. Adding to it, the Japanese brand is considering bikes over 300cc categories for India. The premium scooters in 125-150cc category will play the brand’s role in mass market segment.

Yamaha aims to grab 10 per cent market share by the year 2025. In order to achieve a sales target of 2.5-3 million, the company will invest a sum of 100 crore over the next 3 years to improve the R&D center in India.

It has been a while since enthusiasts are asking Yamaha to bring back the iconic RX100 nameplate in India. In a recent interview to ET Auto, Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India said that the RX100 model is not relevant anymore in today’s market. This clearly suggests that Yamaha has no plans of introducing the RX100 nameplate in India. The company is now working on bigger and premium bikes in order to expand its product portfolio. Moreover, the local development of bigger bikes could further boost the brand’s profitability as well as volumes. The company could develop premium bikes locally to achieve competitive pricing.
