To be positioned between Endeavour & EcoSport, the new Ford Kuga SUV will rival against Hyundai Tucson and Mahindra XUV500.
After launching the Figo Aspire & New Endeavour, Ford is now planning to launch the updated EcoSport in India in 2017. The company is also aiming to expant its product portfolio in India and the next big model from the American automaker could be the Ford Kuga. Ford had imported the Kuga SUV in December 2015 for R&D purpose, and now the vehicle has been spotted testing on Indian roads. The new Ford Kuga India will be positioned between the EcoSport and the Endeavour.
The new Kuga will rival against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Mahindra XUV500 and the top-end variants of Creta & Renault Duster. Internationally, the SUV is available with three engines – 1.5-litre TDCi and 2.0L TDCi diesel and 1.5L EcoBoost petrol. In India, the vehicle could be offered with a 2.0L diesel and 1.5L petrol engines.

The premium SUV is currently on testing phase in India. We expect this model to be launched in India in 2017 or 2018. We will update you as soon as Ford announces anything on this.

The Ford Kuga compact SUV will be offered with two engine options – 2.0-litre TDCi diesel and a 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine. This Duratorq engine is capable of producing 147bhp of power and 370Nm of torque. It is also available in a more powerful tune which churns out 177bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Talking about petrol version, the 1.5L EcoBoost engine churns out a maximum power output of 179bhp and a peak torque of 177Nm. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed SelectShift automatic.
The new Kuga gets signature Ford fascia which we have already seen on the new Endeavour SUV. It comes equipped with the prominent hexagonal chrome grille, flanked by sweptback headlamps. The prominent bumper accommodates a wider mesh air-dam and fog lamps on either side with mesh surrounds. The large alloy wheels, chunky bonnet and the quarter glass pane after the C-pillar gives the side profile a much-needed sporty character. The rear looks sporty, thanks to shorter rear glass and muscular bumper.
Inside the cabin, the vehicle gets all-black theme that looks premium. The company’s kinetic design language is clearly visible in the dashboard layout. The centre console features a large touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, GPS navigation and SYNC 3. Talking about features, the new Kuga gets dual-zone climate control, push-button start, multi-functional steering wheel, rear AC vents, rear parking camera & sensors, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, etc.
