Ford India is doing final launch preparation for the Freestyle crossover. The carmaker has confirmed that the official bookings for the vehicle will commence from April 7, 2018, followed by its launch. Showcased just prior to the Auto Expo 2018 on January 31, the Ford Freestyle is essentially the crossover version of the Figo hatchback.
To be positioned against the Hyundai i20 and Toyota Etios Cross, the Freestyle will come in four trims – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+. Engine setup of the crossover includes a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The gasoline motor delivers 95bhp with 120Nm of torque and the oil burner offers 99bhp with 215Nm of peak torque. Mileage figures of the crossover stand at 19kmpl (petrol) and 24.4kmpl (diesel). Similar to the other Ford cars, the Freestyle is packed with several active and passive safety features. While dual airbags and ABS (anti-lock braking system) are standard across the carline, the side and curtain airbags are offered only on the Titanium+ trim. The list of standard safety features includes seat belt reminder and rear parking sensors.
The crossover also gets Active Rollover Prevention (ARP) system that protects the vehicle against rollover by employing multiple linear acceleration sensors. It is assembled on the ESC (electronic stability control) and the three chassis control systems including traction control, ABS and yaw control. One must note that this feature will be available only on the Titanium and Titanium+ trims. Read – New Ford Endeavour Revealed In New Pictures
