Ford Recalls 4,379 Units Of EcoSport In India

New Ford EcoSport 2017 Performance Review

Ford India has recalled 4,379 units of the EcoSport produced between May and June, 2017.

Ford India today issued a recall for 4,379 units of the pre-facelift EcoSport manufactured at its Chennai based facility between May 2017 and June 2017. The company has quoted an issue with the weld integrity of the front lower control arm that might affect steering control of the vehicle.

In addition, the carmaker is also writing to 1,018 EcoSport owners to check their cars for driver and front passenger seat recliner locks. This exercise will include models produced between November 2017 and December 2017. The company said that it’s a voluntarily recall and the owners of the affected EcoSport will be directly contacted by Ford dealers or officials.

In June 2018, Ford India has managed to sell 4,007 units of the EcoSport as against 3,313 units of the same month last year, accounting 21 per cent growth. The newly-launched Ford Freestyle registered sales of 2,554 units, while the Ford Aspire sedan and Figo recorded sales of 1,246 units and 54 units respectively. The American carmaker registered combined (domestic and exports) sales of 18,830 units, which is down 9.59 per cent, as opposed to 20,828 units of June 2017. In domestic market, the company sold 8,444 vehicles as against 6,149 vehicles of the same month last year. However, the carmaker witnessed a fall of 29 per cent in exports.

Talking about Ford’s future plan, the company is planning to launch the Figo hatchback and Aspire facelifts this year. The updated version of the Endeavour SUV will also make its way to India sometime next year. Besides this, the carmaker is also working on a premium hatchback that will take on the  Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20,
