The new system will replace the existing Windows Fly Audio operating system based unit. The leaked scan reveals that the EcoSport’s updated infotainment system won’t require separate SD card for navigation. While the new unit will come with Ford’s connected car technology – Ford Pass, it will miss out on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The updated Ford EcoSport range comes with features such as HID headlamps with DRLs, rain sensing wipers, push button start, illuminated glovebox, leather wrapped steering and gear shift knob, ambient lighting for the footwells, keyless entry, six airbags, cruise control with adjustable speed limiting device, reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. Talking about engine options, the Ford EcoSport comes with two engine options – a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel. The gasoline unit is good enough for 122PS and 149Nm of torque, the oil burner pushes out 100PS and 215Nm of torque. While a 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the model lineup, a 6-speed automatic comes as an option with petrol engine only.
In other updates, the American carmaker is working on new-generation Ford EcoSport that will be first launched in Brazil. Its India launch might happen sometime next year. Interestingly, the compact SUV’s new-generation model will come with Mahindra’s new 1.2L, 3-cylinder T-GDI mStallion petrol engine. The new petrol unit will come as a replacement to the 1.0L EcoBoost engine. The new motor makes power worth 130bhp and 230Nm of torque, thus making it more powerful (5bhp) and torqueier (60Nm) than its replacement.
