Ford has recently introduced the petrol automatic version of the Figo hatchback. It is now expected that the same engine-gearbox combination will soon be offered with the Ford Aspire sub-4 meter sedan.
Earlier, the automatic option was offered with the 1.5L petrol version of the Aspire. However, Ford had discontinued this engine option. The sub-4 meter sedan is now powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 96PS of power and 119Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Similar to the Figo automatic, the Aspire AT will get a ‘Sports’ mode with manual shifts.
The Ford Aspire is currently available in two trim levels – Titanium and Titanium+. Like the hatchback sibling, the Aspire AT is expected to be around 93,000 expensive over the manual variant. The Aspire Titanium is priced at Rs 7.27 lakh, while the Titanium+ is tagged at Rs 7.62 lakh. With increase in price, the Aspire AT could cost around Rs 8.20 lakh and Rs 8.60 lakh for titanium & titanium+ variants respectively.
The Ford Aspire is equipped with features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, climate control, FordPass connected car tech, push-button start/stop system, a rear view camera and six airbags. The sedan rivals the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor. While the Aura, Tigor and Dzire are offered with AMT gearbox, the Honda Amaze gets superior CVT automatic gearbox.
The Ford Aspire is also available with diesel engine option. It is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that also powers the Figo, Freestyle and the EcoSport. This engine is capable of producing 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is offered as standard.
