Fisker Ocean e-SUV Confirmed For India Launch
An all-new Fisker Ocean electric SUV has recently been unveiled at the 2020 CES. A new media report claims that the Fisker Ocean will also be launched in India. Fisker is an American automaker, which introduced the Fisker Karma, a luxury plug-in hybrid electric vehicle in 2008.
The Fisker Ocean electric SUV will first go on sale in the USA in 2021, while the European nations and China will receive this e-SUV in 2022. It is expected that the SUV will arrive in our market by 2025. The report further claims that the US-company, Fisker has a long-term plan for the Indian market and is also considering setting-up an assembly facility in India.
Speaking to carandbike, Henrik Fisker, Chairman and CEO, Fisker Inc., said, “We designed our Fisker Ocean EV to be extremely space-efficient, and we can offer lower-cost versions that would be very competitive in India, in the mid-market segment. Ultimately we may look at a local assembly in India to lower-cost further. We want to deliver the world’s most sustainable premium electric vehicle to Indian consumers through our App. By going directly to our customers we save costs that we can pass on to our customers.”
The Fisker Ocean comes fitted with an 80kWh battery and gives a range of 480km. The company hasn’t revealed the torque and power figures. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 3.0 seconds. The e-SUV will be offered in 2-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive variants.
The Fisker Ocean is priced at $37,499 (approximately Rs 27 lakh), which is lesser than the Tesla Model 3. The prices will further go down to $29,999 (INR 21.60 lakh) after federal tax credit. Pre-bookings for the SUV have already been open and interested buyers can pre-book the SUV at a token amount of just $250 (Approx 18,000).
