First Spy Pictures Of Mahindra S204 SUV Emerge

We have reported earlier that Mahindra & Mahindra will foray into premium compact SUV segment to challenge the cars like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Codenamed Mahindra S204, the SUV is currently in its testing phase and caught on camera for the first time. T

The heavily camouflaged test mule has managed to cover design details of the vehicle. Though, its dummy headlamps, signature grille and steel rims are clearly visible. Mahindra S204 fronts spied

Some of design elements will be inspired by the Mahindra XUV300 such as sculpting on the haunches, rear quarter glass and wing mirrors. Compared to the XUV300, the Mahindra S204 will feature sleeker airdam, shark fin antenna, roof rails, revised rear section, more sculpted tailgate and tight overhangs. Similar to the SsangYong XLV, the Mahindra S204 will be based on the stretched Tivoli platform. Engine details of the SUV are still under the wraps. It’s likely to come with the Marazzo’s 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that’s good for 121bhp and 300Nm of torque. Rumour also has it that it might get a 1.5L turbocharged T-GDI petrol engine that will also be introduced on the Marazzo MPV lineup sometime next year.

Mahindra S204 rear spied

In terms of proportions, the SsangYong XLV measures 4440mm in length, 1798mm in width and 1635mm in height with a wheelbase of 2600mm. The Mahindra S204 is likely to carry the same dimensions. The new compact SUV from the home-grown carmaker might debut in its concept avatar at the 2020 Auto Expo.
