Maruti Suzuki India will soon give a generation change to its top-selling hatchback – Alto. Media reports suggest that the new-generation Maruti Alto will hit showrooms during 2019 festive season (possibly in October, 2019). Ahead of its official launch, the carmaker has begun testing the vehicle and recently its prototype caught on camera for the first time.

Since the test mule of the new Maruti Alto 2019 was heavily camouflaged, details remain unknown to us. The spy picture shows the rear profile of the hatchback that appears to carry crossover-ish body stance along with narrow tyres.

Design and styling of the new Maruti Alto 2019 will be inspired by the Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept that was previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The hatchback’s new model will be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform, thus making it lighter, stiffer and safer than before. It will also aid to the performance and fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

The new Maruti Alto 2019 will meet the new safety norms and BSVI emission regulations. The hatchback will have more cabin space and features to offer. For power, the vehicle will make use of a BS6-ready 800cc and 1.0L petrol engines paired to a manual and AMT gearbox. The LPG and CNG fuel options will also be on offer. Rumour has it that the hatchback’s new-generation model might get an electric powertrain at a later stage.
