Volkswagen T Roc R is essentially the performance-oriented version of the VW T Roc.

The German carmaker has revealed the Volkswagen T Roc R concept performance SUV ahead of its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 2019. The VW T Roc R is essentially the performance-oriented version of the T Roc that broke cover in August 2017. The official pictures of the Volkswagen T Roc R reveal its wide and aggressive radiator grille with an andoised finish, larger air damp, LED projector headlamps and matt chrome mirror caps. The performance-oriented T Roc R carries beefier stance, wider footprint and sharper design language than the regular model.

While 18-inch alloy wheels come as standard, the 19-inch Pretoria dark graphite matt alloys with 235/40 R19 tyres are optional offerings. Under the hood, the Volkswagen T Roc R features a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine generating power worth 296bhp against 400Nm of torque. This oil burner can do 0 to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds and delivers a top speed of 250kmph. The performance SUV gets a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox with a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

Compared to the regular model, the Volkswagen T Roc R sits 20mm lower and has stiffer suspension system. The SUV also comes with the standard passive dampers and the optional Dynamic Chassis Control system.

Globally, the Volkswagen T Roc R will be launched by mid 2019. The standard version of the SUV will make its way to India sometime in 2020. Here, it will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and the newly-launched Nissan Kicks.
