Fiat Abarth Punto

Fiat India has launched the Abarth version of the Punto Evo at Rs. 9.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Unveiled at BIC (Buddh International Circuit), the Fiat Abarth Punto receives minimal exterior and interior updates. Though, the major changes have made under the hood. The hot hatch gets a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder T-Jet petrol engine that delivers the class-leading power of 145bhp and 212Nm of torque. This also makes it the most powerful hatchback of the country. Paired to a five-speed manual transmission, the car returns a fuel efficiency of 16.3kmpl. This hot-hatch is capable to achieve 0-100kmph in 8.8 seconds.

Exterior Styling

The Punto’s Abarth version looks more refreshing and sportier than the regular Punto. The hot hatch has been specifically designed for the Indian market, and features signature Abarth badge instead of Fiat’s, grille with contrast horizontal slats and secondary air dams on the front end. The car rides on 16-inches dual-tone alloy wheels that are wrapped with 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres. Other design elements include Abarth decals on sides, ORVMs in contrast colour and sporty rear bumper. For better handling and drivability, Fiat has reduced its ride height by 20mm. The Abarth Punto is made available with a choice of three colors – White, Black and Grey.

Here’s Everything You Should Know About Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione

Interior & Features

The interior of the hatchback is as sporty and premium as its exterior. It gets Abarth badge on steering wheel and machined pedals, new seat upholstery with contrast red and yellow stitching and other fitments. As far as safety features are concerned, the Abarth Punto offers seven airbags protection including dual-stage driver and passenger airbags, window bags, side bags and driver knee bags. Engine & Transmission

Powering the Punto’s Abarth version is a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that also does duty to the Linea sedan. Though, this unit has been tuned for extra power. This engine offers the class-leading power output of 145bhp and 212Nm of peak torque. This makes it 40bhp more powerful than the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, which is powered with a 105bhp, 1.2-litre TSI engine. Power is transferred to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. This powertrain is capable to achieve 0-100kmph in 8.8 seconds. The suspension and braking system, too, have tweaked for better performance, and handle the extra power.
