The inclination towards more premium hatchback is clearly visible in India. The hot hatchback segment will soon see a new entrant next month. Italian automaker, Fiat will launch the Abarth 595 Competizione in the country in November, 2015. The company unveiled the 500 Abarth at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show, which was speculated to be launched in India by year end.
Under the bonnet, the hot hatch gets the 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit that is good for 158bhp and 21.4kgm of torque. Switch on the Sports mode, the engine increases the torque figure up to 23.45kgm. The engine is paired to a five-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox. Its wheel arches have been fitted to 17-inch wheels, and the car measures 3657mm in length, 1627mm in width and 1,485mm in height.
The exteriors of the hatchback features graphite finished door handles, outside rear view mirrors and grille. Inside, the vehicle looks sporty. It features Sabelt race belt, and machine alloy is used for making foot pedals. The flat bottom steering wheel looks sporty, and the graphite finish is also visible on the dashboard. There would be a LCD display for the driver’s instrument cluster. Limited numbers of the Abarth 595 will be sold in the country, and it is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 25-30 lakh.
