We reported earlier that the Fiat Abarth 500 has arrived on Indian shores for homologation purpose. It was said that the performance Abarth 500 would go on sale by year India. According to Cartoq, the company is planning to launch the vehicle in the country in October. Interestingly, Fiat will also launch the much-awaited Avventura pseudo crossover in October.
The Abarth 500 would come as CBU (Completely Built Unit) and is likely to be priced around Rs. 25 lakh. It will directly compete against the Mini range of sporty hatchbacks in the country. The launch of the Abarth 500 will mark the entry of Fiat’s high performance brand into the Indian market. The Indian-spec model will feature the same state of engines offered with the Australia-spec version. Under the bonnet is the 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 158bhp and a peak torque of 230Nm. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox that transmits the power to front wheels of the car.
The Abarth 500 would be loaded with a series of safety features including 7 airbags, ABS and ESC to ensure maximum protection for the occupants. It features aggressive front fascia with single chrome grille flanked by split oval shaped headlamps. It rides on the 16-inch alloys while the 17-inch alloy wheels will be offered as optional.
