Fiat 500X small SUV

Fiat is set to unveil the much-awaited 500X small crossover at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in September. Ahead of its global unveiling, the compact crossover has been leaked on web world. The 500X will be the third member to join the Fiat 500 family.

The 500X is the sibling to the Jeep Renegade as both products share platforms. It will replace the discontinued Suzuki SX4 based Sedici. It will rival against the likes of Honda HR-V, Renault Capture and Nissan Juke. The vehicle is not likely to make its way to the Indian market, while the company is working on a small SUV specifically for Indian and other growing nations.

The 500X looks like a jagged up version of the 500 hatchback with added equipments to offer aggressive looks. The compact crossover gets body cladding all around, a high ground clearance and roof rails to give rugged road presence. Its front fascia gets some rough elements; however, the compact crossover will be marketed as soft roader.

Mechanically, the Fiat 500X is likely to share the engine configuration with Renegade. Under the hood would be the 1.6-litre E.torQ petrol that produces 110PS of power. A more powerful and range-topping 2.4-litre Tigershark motor is capable of producing 184bhp of top power.
