Fiat seems aggressive with its expansion plans for the Indian car market. The company recently launched the new Punto Evo, and is now doing final preparations for the launch of much-awaited Avventura crossover. We reported earlier that 500 Abarth would make its way to the Indian market by year end. And now, reports suggest that the performance model would be introduced in November.

The Abarth 500 will come as CBU (Completely Built Unit) and will rival against Mini range. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 25 lakh; however, the company is also contemplating a local assembling of the Abarth products. The Abarth 500 will mark the entry of Fiat’s high performance brand in the Indian market. Under the bonnet is the 1.4-litre T-Jet turbo petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 158bhp and a peak torque of 230Nm. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission gearbox.

The Abarth 500 will be equipped with loads of safety and security features such as 7 airbags, ABS, ESC and others to ensure maximum protection for the occupants. Front fascia features single chrome grille which is complemented by split oval shaped headlamps. It rides on the 16-inch alloys while the 17-inch alloy wheels will be offered as optional.
