Fiat 363 Mid-Sized SUV Makes Global Debut: Jeep Renegade Rival

Italian automaker, Fiat has unveiled an all-new SUV in Brazil. Internally called Project 363, the new mid-sized SUV will be launched in the South American markets later this year.

The Fiat Project 363 is designed and developed for emerging markets including South America. The company is yet to confirm the name of this mid-sized SUV. Fiat has held an online poll and asked customers to choose between the names Pulse, Tuo or Domo. In the South American markets, the Fiat mid-sized SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Jeep Renegade.

The new Fiat SUV features the brand’s new design theme, which we have already seen on the new Fiat models including the Argo and Strada. It comes with an upright front fascia with wide wraparound headlamps and a wide grille that has big Fiat logo in the centre. The SUV gets aggressive bumper that houses triangular shaped fog lamps. It sports a prominent chin and a thick black cladding that runs across the width.

There is a rugged-looking skid plate, which gives it a strong presence. The SUV gets sculpted hood, chrome bar running above the grille and LED headlamps. It comes with an upward swooping window line and a strong character line that runs across the width. There is a partial cladding at the bottom. The top-spec models will have dual-tone colour options. The rear profile features stylish wraparound LED tail-lamps, a sculpted tailgate, roof integrated spoiler with brake lights, dual-tone bumper with silver skid plate and a dual exhaust setup.

The new Fiat SUV will be powered by a new direct injection 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is based on the 1.0 Firefly engine. This engine is likely to produce around 125bhp of power and close to 200Nm of torque. It will be coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The other engine options will include the 1.3-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 109bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. This engine will be paired to a CVT-type gearbox. The vehicle is also expected to receive a new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which also powers the South American-spec Jeep Compass.

The Fiat SUV won’t be introduced in our market. Stellantis has decided to focus on increasing Jeep sales in the Indian market. The company will introduce the new 7-seater Commander (Based On Compass) and a new sub-4 meter SUV in India. Adding to it, Citroen will launch a new sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed C21 in India in 2021.
