MG Motor India has recorded total sales of 4163 units in November 2020, registering a growth of 28.5% against the same month previous year. The carmaker managed to sell 3,426 units of the Hector, 627 units of the Gloster and 110 units of the ZS EV last month. It’s the second highest monthly sales registered by the Hector along with over 4,000 new bookings.
The company also revealed that it received over 2,500 bookings for the newly-launched MG Gloster premium 7-seater SUV. One must note that the British carmaker offered discounts and benefits on the MG cars (save for the Gloster) for the first time in November. MG hopes to maintain the sales momentum in December and close 2020 on a strong note.
The MG Hector SUV has been made available with three engines – 2.0L turbo diesel (170bhp/50Nm), 1.5L turbo petrol (143bhp/250Nm) and 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system. Customers can choose from 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT automatic gearboxes. The MG Gloster SUV, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0L turbo diesel (163PS/375Nm) and 2.0 twin-turbo diesel (218PS/480Nm) engine options. The model lineup is spread across four trims, namely, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy.
Recently, the carmaker increased prices of the Gloster 7-seater SUV. At present, it’s available in the price range of Rs 29.98 lakh – Rs 5.58 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The carmaker claims that the Gloster is India’s first premium SUV to offer ADSA (Advanced Driver Assistant System). MG ZS EV is the first electric vehicle from the British carmaker in the country.
The electric SUV comes in two variants – Excite and Exclusive – packed with a 143bhp, permanent magnet synchronous motor and 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery. In coming months, the company is planning to bring in MG ZS petrol to challenge dominance of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
