Carmakers Will Soon Provide Factory-Fitted Number Plates

Getting license number/number plate for a new car is surely a tiring process in India. One has to submit several documents and visit registration office multiple times. Aiming to simplify the entire process, India’s Union, Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari announced that the vehicles will soon be offered with number plates by the carmakers. The cost of the vehicle license plate will be included in the car’s price.

Currently, the license plate has the vehicle’s official registration number is provided at the district-level Regional Transport Offices (RTO). And the number plate comes with an additional cost ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 40,000 that varies state-wise. With the implementation of the new law, the entire process of the vehicle’s registration and getting license number will become easier and more cost-effective. Official Statement By Nitin Gadkari  

“Vehicles will soon come fitted with number plates and the cost will be included in the four-wheeler price. We have taken an important decision. Now, manufacturers will fit the plates and embossing will be done later through machine”.

“There would be no compromise in terms of security as far as vehicles were concerned and such norms will be same for all models be it economy or luxury. We will not compromise with security…. what security norms we have done for economic models, same is for luxury and SUVs,” he further added.
