Epiq, Spyk, Taureo – Upcoming Tata SUV, MPV?

Recently, Tata Motors trademarked three names for its upcoming new models – Taureo, Epiq and Spyk. As of now, there is no clarity which name will be used for which product. The home-grown carmaker aims to have widest SUV range in India including Gravitas, Hornbill (HBX based mini SUV) and a mid-size SUV (codename Blackbird). The company might use one of these new names for the production-ready Tata Blackbird SUV. When launched, it will find itself in the middle of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

Speculations suggest that Tata might use one of the registered names for its upcoming new MPV that will be based on the Alfa platform. It could be the Tata Taureo. The new Tata MPV is likely to share its engines with the Nexon subcompact SUV (1.5L petrol and diesel). It will be put up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the upcoming MPVs from MG, Kia and Hyundai.

The company has also planned a mid-size sedan that will underpin the Alfa platform. The same architecture will also be used for the new-generation Tata Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. All models will witness some noticeable changes inside and out. One of the new registered names could be used for the upcoming Tata electric cars including the Altroz EV, HBX EV and Blackbird EV. The upcoming Tata electric vehicles will come in different price brackets starting from Rs 8 lakh.

In other updates, Tata Motors recently rolled out the new Altroz XM+ variant and Harrier Camo Edition. The former has been priced at Rs 6.60 lakh, which is around Rs 30,000 more expensive than the XM variant. The Tata Harrier Camo Edition is being offered in four variants – XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+ – priced at Rs 16.50 lakh, Rs 17.30 lakh, Rs 17.85 lakh and Rs 19.10 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.
