Deliveries of Skoda Octavia RS 245 Commence In India
Skoda Octavia RS 245, the performance-oriented sedan from the Czech carmaker, was launched at this year’s Auto Expo. Only 200 CBU units of the vehicle were made available in the Indian market, and all of them were sold out last month. Now, deliveries of performance sedan have been commenced with partial lift of the lockdown. Painted in Race Blue shade, the first unit has been delivered in Goa.
Priced at Rs 35.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Octavia RS 245 comes with a 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch (DGS) automatic transmission. The gasoline motor is good enough for 245PS and 370Nm of torque. It’s claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds and offer a maximum speed of 250kmph.
Some of its key features include a black grille with vRS badging, split headlamp design, LED DRLs, dual trapezoidal exhaust, all black interior theme, Alcantara seats with contrasting red stitching and vRS badging, an updated 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, a flat bottom infotainment system and more.
In November last year, the carmaker revealed the fourth-generation Skoda Octavia with a hybrid powertrain. The system includes a 1.4L TSI turbocharged petrol engine and a 116bhp electric motor. Its combined power and torque outputs stand at 245bhp and 400Nm respectively. As of now, there is no clarity whether it will come to India or not.
In coming weeks, the carmaker will launch the all-new Skoda Karoq SUV in the country. To be offered in a single variant, the SUV will be powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI petrol engine making 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, it will have a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The new Skoda Rapid with 1.0L TSI engine and BS6-compliant Skoda Superb will also see a release in coming weeks.
