Datsun Cross Compact SUV

The new Datsun compact SUV is likely to arrive in the second half of 2019.

We informed you earlier that Nissan will play premium in the Indian market. Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun will take care of the affordable segment. The company has recently launched the 2018 GO and GO+ facelifts and is now preparing a sub-4 meter SUV. This compact SUV will directly rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. Though the exact launch details are yet to be revealed, a new media report claims that the SUV will go on sale in the end of 2019.

The new Datsun compact SUV will be based on the new Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform that will also underpins the upcoming Renault’s MPV. The new compact SUV is most likely to share styling cues from the GO Cross concept, which was first previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

With heavy localisation, Datsun will aim to undercut the prices of its direct rivals. The SUV will also receive several tech features including a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD will be offered as standard. It is expected to come in petrol only version, as demand for oil burner is continuously shrinking in our market. Also See – Nissan Kicks – 6 Reasons why it is better than competition

The SUV will receive the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the RediGO Hatchback. This engine produces 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. The company could add a new turbocharger to boost up the power and torque. Besides manual transmission, the small SUV could also be offered with AMT option.
