Datsun Go hatchback spotted testing in India

The compact car will sit below the Nissan Micra Active, and is expected to be priced under Rs. 3.5 lakh.

Earlier this year, Nissan re-invented the Datsun brand and presented the first product Go hatchback, which will directly compete against the likes of Maruti WagonR, Hyundai i10 and others. The vehicle will be officially launched by the early 2014, and the next model Go+ MPV is expected to be unveiled in the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

For the first time, the Go hatchback has been spotted testing on the Indian roads. One of the Team-BHP readers Mr. Abdul Shukoor has managed to click the vehicle during its test rounds, showing that the vehicle is ready for launch. The compact car will sit below the Nissan Micra Active, and is expected to be priced under Rs. 3.5 lakh. To make it costs effective, the Go hatchback shares most of its parts with the Nissan Micra. It has a 2,450mm wheelbase and will be powered by the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the Micra. The power is transmitted to front wheels via five speed manual transmission.

The vehicle spotted looks similar to that of the unveiled earlier this year. Despite the compact hatch, the Go looks quite spacious. It also features a mobile dock holder, and the gear lever is mounted on the dash. Go hatchback will be developed at the Nissan’s Orgadam facility in Chennai.
