Nissan’s low cost brand- Datsun has finally launched the much awaited compact car Datsun Go in the Indian car market. It made its global debut last year in India, and has recently been unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show. Dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the hatchback at a token amount of Rs. 11,000, while the deliveries to commence today itself. The Datsun Go has been priced at Rs. 3.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Datsun Go is available in three trim level- D, A and T, while the A & T trims comes with air conditioner and top spec T gets power steering. The new Datsun Go gets the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is capable of developing a top power output of 68bhp and 110Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, which transmits power to front wheels of the car. It is the same engine which also powers the Micra hatchback, but it is de-tuned to offer a better fuel efficiency. It returns an impressive fuel economy of 20.68kmpl. It accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in 13.3 seconds, which is impressive.
Based on the old Nissan Micra platform, the Datsun Go has been the most spacious car in its league. Dimensionally, the hatchback is 3785mm long, 1635mm wide and 1485mm high. It has a large wheelbase of 2450mm which offers an impressive legroom and headroom space to seat five adults with high level of comfort. It also offers a boot space of 265-litres, which can accommodate 3-4 bags easily.
