We informed you earlier that Datsun will launch a new sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market before the edn of this financial year. The new model will be an all-new SUV based on the GO Cross concept, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. This compact SUV will rival the likes of Maruti Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
While the Indonesian spec GO Cross is based on the existing GO hatchback platform, the India-spec model will use the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform. This platform will also underpin the upcoming Renault’s MPV. The new model is expected to share design cues from the GO Cross concept, which was previewed at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Sits below 4 meter in length, the Datsun Cross SUV is expected to carry an aggressive price tag. Also See – Datsun Cross Compact SUV: Maruti Vitara Brezza Challenger Coming Soon
Instead of rugged SUV styling, the Datsun mini SUV will come with crossover-ish design. The new SUV will also receive several tech features like a touchscreen infotainment system with connected applications. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the RediGO hatchback. This engine is good for 67bhp and 91Nm of torque. Datsun is likely to add a new turbocharger to boost up the power and torque figures.
Besides this mini SUV, Datsun will launch a special edition of the RediGO hatchback in the country. Adding to it, the facelifted versions of the 2018 Datsun GO and GO+ MPV will go on sale during the festive season, Diwali. Talking about the parent company, Nissan will soon launch the long-awaited Kicks compact SUV to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. Moreover, Leaf electric is also expected to arrive sometime next year.
