Confirmed – Tata Altroz is the Official Name of 45X Hatchback

The Tata Altroz will make global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show

Tata Motors is all set to unveil the production version of the 45X concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The company has officially announced that the highly anticipated premium hatchback will be called the ‘Tata Altroz‘. Just to jog your memory, Tata had showcased the 45X concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.

Inspired from the bird ‘Albatross’, the Altroz premium hatchback is claimed to be equipped with class-leading features. The company claims that the “Tata Altroz will shine above all its contemporaries with its Agility, Speed, and Efficiency along with best-in-class performance and in-cabin space”.

Speaking on the announcement of the name of the hatchback, Mr. Mayank Pareek – President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said – “We are extremely elated to announce the name of our upcoming model, which will redefine the premium hatchback segment for the industry. With superlative design elements and a versatile architecture, the Tata ALTROZ is the perfect amalgamation of futuristic design, advanced technology, class leading connectivity, thrilling performance and smart packaging. We are excited to introduce this product to our customers and are gearing up for its commercial launch in mid – 2019. The Altroz hatchback will mark the debut of brand’s new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture. This architecture is designed and developed to produce vehicle up to 4.3 meters in length. The company will also develop a micro SUV – codenamed Hornbill and a mid-sized sedan on this platform. The hatchback will be the brand’s second model to feature the IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN language. The Tata Altroz is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the second quarter of 2019. The premium hatchback will rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. It is rumoured to be offered with 2 petrol engines – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol from Tiago and a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol from Nexon compact SUV.
