Confirmed New Car Launches From Maruti, Hyundai – 2021

India’s two leading automakers, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai have planned three new models, which are slated to hit roads by the end of 2021. While the Indo-Japanese carmaker will introduce the new-generation models of its popular Celerio hatchback and Vitara Brezza compact SUV, the South Korean auto manufacturer will bring in the Alcazar 6/7-seater SUV.

Set for a generation change, the Maruti Celerio will witness significant cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a more powerful petrol engine. The hatchback will ditch its existing platform for the Heartect architecture that will make it more rigid and safer. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be bigger and more spacious. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will be offered with a 82bhp, 1.2L K12 petrol motor borrowed from the WagonR hatchback. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer.

Under the hood, the new Vitara Brezza will retain the 1.5L K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine. This time around, however, it will get a stronger hybrid system. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a new 6-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual.

Its petrol version will use a 159bhp, 2.0L, 4-cylinder unit and the diesel model will come with the 115bhp, 1.5L, 4-cylinder motor. Compared to its arch rivals – Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus, the Alcazar will sit on longer wheelbase (2760mm).
