Confirmed List of New 7-Seater SUVs Launching In 2021

Tata Motors has recently launched the new Safari, which is basically the 7-seater version of the Harrier SUV. The model directly rivals the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500. Indian buyers are now ready to shed extra to drive home a bigger car, which offers a space for 4-5 adults along with a space for 2 kids. In this article, we bring you a confirmed list of upcoming new 7-seater SUVs to be launched in the Indian market in 2021 –

Hyundai Alcazar

Korean automaker, Hyundai has confirmed that the 7-seater version of the Creta SUV will be launched in the Indian market this year. Called the Hyundai Alcazar, the SUV is likely to go on sale in the second quarter of 2021. The new model will rival the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming new-gen Mahindra XUV500.

The Hyundai Alcazar will ride on 20mm longer wheelbase and will be 30mm longer than the regular Creta. This will allow Hyundai to create space to accommodate third row of seats. The new Alcazar will receive major design changes to the side and rear profile. The SUV will have flatter roof and extended rear overhangs. Adding to it, the rear will have flattish profile with re-styled tail-lamps and tailgate. The SUV will also receive a new chrome-studded front grille and front parking sensors. The new Hyundai Alcazar will be offered with 6-and 7-seat layouts. The SUV is likely to come with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol.

New Mahindra XUV500

Mahindra will launch the new generation XUV500 SUV in the second half of 2021. The new model has been caught testing multiple times in production avatar; however, launch has been pushed for few months due to global shortage of semiconductor chips. The new model will grow in size, which will help Mahindra to create more space inside the cabin. The SUV will ride on longer wheelbase and will be offered in 6-and 7-seat layouts.

The spy images reveal that the new Mahindra XUV500 will get Mercedes-inspired dual-screen on dashboard for touchscreen and instrument console. The SUV will come equipped with automatic AC, touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, leather upholstery, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps and others.  The SUV will be offered with two engine options – a new 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel.

New Mahindra Scorpio

The new generation Mahindra Scorpio will be launched before Diwali 2021. The new model has been caught testing numerous times. The spy images confirm that the new Scorpio will retain the rugged boxy profile; however, all the design elements are completely new. In fact, the new model looks big and offers forward-facing third row of seats. It will be based on the new ZEN3 platform, which underpins the new Thar.

The spy images confirm that the new Mahindra Scorpio will come with all-new interior in dual-tone Black and Beige scheme. It comes equipped with panoramic sunroof, engine start/stop button, a new multi-functional steering wheel, new instrument console, a verically-stacked large touchscreen infotainment system and others. It will receive a new 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, which is likely to be tuned to offer 152bhp of power. The diesel version will receive the 2.0L turbo-diesel engine, which could generate around 158bhp.

Jeep H6 7-seater

Jeep is readying an all-new 7-seater SUV based on the Compass platform. This is the Small-Wide 4×4 platform, which will be modified to accommodate a longer wheelbase SUV. Codenamed H6, the new Jeep SUV will rival the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The longer wheelbase will help Jeep to create extra space for the third-row of seats. The spy images reveal that the new Jeep H6 SUV will share styling cues from the bigger Grand Cherokee.

The SUV will share interior panels and features with the Compass. However, it will have all-new dashboard design and a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and connected car tech. The new Jeep 7-seater SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine, which will produce close to 200bhp of power and over 400Nm of torque.

Mahindra Bolero Neo

Mahindra will re-introduce the TUV300 SUV, but with a different nameplate. The new model will be called the Mahindra Bolero Neo and will be sold alongside the regular Bolero. The updated model has already been caught testing multiple times, revealing the design changes and upgraded cabin. The new Mahindra Bolero Neo will look similar to the older TUV300, featuring clam-shell bonnet, squared wheel arches and headlamps. The new Bolero Neo will come new front fascia with updated grille and re-profiled headlamps.

The SUV will get revised dashboard layout and updated central console with new touchscreen infotainment system. The Bolero Neo could also get new seat upholstery and instrument console. It is likely to be powered by a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 100bhp and 240Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
