FCA, the Italian auto group has announced an increase in prices for all its SUVs currently on sale in India. The new prices are effective from September 15, 2017. Its newly launched and popular SUV, the Jeep Compass has received a price hike between Rs 21,000 and Rs 72,000, depending on the variant. On the flip side, the company has increased prices of its CBU models – Wrangler and Grand Cherokee – by up to Rs 6.4 lakh.
Jeep had launched the new Compass SUV in July 2017 at Rs 14.95 lakh, ex-showroom. The vehicle has been receiving an excellent response from car buyers, with bookings cross 10,000 mark within 2 months. The increase in price could surely impact the sales of this SUV, not by much. The top-end diesel variant price is now increased by Rs 72,000. Also Read – Meet India’s First Modified Jeep Compass
Not just Jeep models, FCA has also increased the prices of other Fiat models including Linea, Punto and other models. The Fiat models are now costlier by Rs 9,000 to Rs 14,000. The increase in prices is due to the GST council’s recent increase in cess on mid-sized, large cars and SUVs. Not just FCA, Toyota and Honda have also increased prices of their popular cars.
