After revealing its first made-in-India model in April, Jeep launched Compass in July and since then it has been churning good volumes. Although, Jeep carline has been introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel options, the company initially started deliveries of the diesel variants. One must note that the diesel-powered Jeep is offered only with the 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the petrol engine additionally gets a 7-speed automatic DDCT transmission. All this while, dealers were accepting bookings for the petrol variants and it seems that Jeep will soon start deliveries for the petrol Compass. Interestingly, the automatic version of the SUV has now started arriving at the authorized dealerships for test drives. Not just this, but the AT version is currently attracting a waiting period of up to 2 months. It is to be noted that the petrol manual version is still not available for test drives at the Jeep dealerships, albeit bookings are open for a sum of Rs 50,000 and it commands a waiting period of up to three months. Power source on the petrol version is the 1.4-litre Multiair turbocharged unit good for 161bhp against 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices on the petrol engine include a 7-speed Dual Dry Clutch unit and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Diesel-powered model on the other hand uses a 2.0-litre Multijet 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. This unit comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Jeep petrol is available in three variants-Sports, Limited and Limited Option. Both petrol and diesel trims are identical in terms of equipment. As for the pricing, the model has seen slight bump post change in GST cess. That said, Jeep Compass carline is now available between Rs 15.16 lakh to Rs 21.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
