Jeep Compass Bookings Cross The 10,000 Mark

With over 10,000 pre-bookings, the Jeep Compass currently commands a waiting period of around 4-5 months

Jeep, the American SUV maker had launched the Made-in-India Jeep Compass on July 31, 2017. The vehicle has been priced aggressively in the range of Rs 14.95 lakh – Rs 20.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Even before its launch, the Compass had 5000 bookings and post launch the numbers keep increasing with every passing day. The SUV has been receiving an excellent response from car buyers. Thanks to its aggressive pricing, the new Jeep Compass has received over 10,000 pre-orders. The SUV currently commands a waiting period of around 3-4 months. Jeep has increased the production capacity to meet the rising demand.

Jeep started deliveries of the SUV from August 5, 2017. FCA has currently delivering only diesel version of the SUV, while the deliveries for the petrol variants will commence from Diwali. As a reminder, Jeep will also export this five-seater premium SUV to all RHD (Right-Hand-Drive) markets. This five-seater premium SUV is being offered in three trim levels – Sport, Longitude and Limited. The SUV is available with two engines – a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbocharged oil burner. While the former is capable of producing 162bhp of power and 250Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, while a seven-speed automatic unit is available with petrol version only. The Compass range is claimed to be equipped with 50 active and passive safety features, 30 premium features and 20 pioneering tech. It gets standard ESP, ABS, Dynamic steering, dual airbag, hill start assist, etc, while the top-end model has six airbags.

The diesel model is also being offered with 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. The all-wheel-drive model is fitted with a Select Terrain system with four driving modes – Auto, Snow, Mud and Sand. Sits above 4 meter in length, the SUV measures 4,447mm, 1,813mm and 1,651mm in length, width and height respectively. It comes with a large wheelbase of 2,634m and has a ground clearance of 178mm.
