Czech automaker, Skoda is all set to unveil the next generation Skoda Fabia at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. The company recently revealed the hatchback online, while the vehicle has already entered into production at the company’s manufacturing unit in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. Ahead of its global debut in Paris, Skoda presented this hatchback to Czech media. Now, we have the clear images of exteriors and interiors of the new Fabia.
The latest iteration of the Skoda Fabia hatchback gets the company’s new corporate design philosophy. Based on the thoroughly modified PQ25 platform, christened as PQ26, the Skoda Fabia is more spacious and feature rich than the current model. The vehicle is claimed to be equipped with 17 ‘Simply Clever’ features, nine of which are new.
The cabin space is slightly longer and larger than in the previous model and provides increased headroom to driver and passengers. The new model is 8mm shorter than the previous model, while the wheelbase is slightly enhanced to give an increased interior length of 8mm to 1674mm.
The new Skoda Fabia offers a large boot space of 330-litres which is around 15-litres more than the previous model. The luggage carrying capacity can be increased up to 1,150-litres by folding the rear seats.
The new Skoda Fabia also offers several storage spaces including seven bottle holders, ticket holder, cup holders, etc. It also features SmatGate system which allows vehicle information transfer to smartphones, MirrorLink infotainment system, etc.
The next Fabia will be offered in four petrol and three diesel engine options. The vehicle will get the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder MPI petrol motor producing two states of tunes- 60bhp and 75bhp, and is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
The other petrol motor will be the 1.2-litre TSI that produces 90bhp and 160Nm of torque, and is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. This engine is also tuned to offer 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
All diesel variants of the Skoda Fabia will get the new 1.4-litre 3-cylinder engine that is tuned to offer three states of tunes- 75bhp, 90bhp and 105bhp. This engine is paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox.
