Citroen Mini SUV (Tata HBX Rival) Testing Begins – 1st Spy Pictures

Groupe PSA is ready to start its Indian innings with the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV that’s slated to hit roads in the first half of 2021. The French carmaker has also planned a range of new models including a sub-4 meter SUV, a mini SUV, a mid-size SUV, hatchback and a sedan. The upcoming new Citroen mini SUV has been caught on camera for the first during its test rounds in Brazil.

Codenamed Citroen CC21, the micro SUV will be put up against the upcoming Tata HBX and the Hyundai AX1. While the HBX concept based small SUV is reported to arrive in May 2021, the latter might come during this year’s festive season (possibly around October 2021). It will also give a tough challenge to the cars like Mahindra KUV100, Maruti Ignis and S-Presso.

The spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details. Though, you can notice the black steel wheels, squared taillamps and rear bumper mounted license plate. The higher trims of the final model are likely to be offered with alloy wheels.

Interior is still a mystery to us. Though, the upcoming Citroen mini SUV (CC21) is likely to come with a touchscreen infotainment unit, smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, keyless entry, climate control and cruise control. On the safety front, the model is likely to be offered with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, parking sensors and other mandatory safety fitments.

The micro SUV will be designed the Groupe PSA’ CMP (EMP1) platform that also underpins the brand’s several global models. Interestingly, the Citroen CC21 is likely to be offered with a 1.2L petrol engine with flexifuel option. It might come with ethanol blends ranging from 27% to 100%. If it happens, the new Citroen mini SUV will become India’s first bi-fuel vehicle.
