Citroen CC21 Mini SUV To Feature Flex-Fuel Engine; Launch In 2021

Groupe PSA is all set to launch the Citroen nameplate in the Indian two-wheeler market in the first half of 2021. The company will introduce the C5 Aircross mid-sized SUV in the first quarter of 2021. Citroen will also start rolling out locally developed products from the second half of next year.

We reported earlier that Citroen will introduce a sub-4 meter SUV, codenamed Citroen CC21 in the Indian market in the second half of 2021. A new media report claims that the new compact SUV will be equipped with a flex-fuel system. This system is compatible to feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel. The company believes that the small SUV could give Citroen a first-mover advantage in the flexi-fuel space in India.

The Citroen CC21 small SUV will be designed and developed on a new small car platform, which is internally called the C-Cube. Developed specifically for emerging markets, the new CC21 will be developed on the CMP (Common Modular Platform). Citroen is also readying an all-new compact SUV, codenamed CC24, which will challenge the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Hyundai Venue. The new Citroen CC24 is rumoured to be launched in 2022. The company is also working on a new compact sedan, which will go on sale in 2023.

Citroen is also readying an all-new city electric car, which is likely to be based on the CC21 mini SUV. The report claims that the new mini SUV could be priced around Rs 8 lakh, which makes it the most affordable electric car in our market. The new electric mini SUV will take on the likes of the upcoming Renault Kwid electric, Hyundai smart city electric, Mahindra e-KUV100 and the Tata HBX based electric mini SUV.
