Citroen C5 Aircross SUV – Single Variant, Diesel-Automatic Combo
Recently, Groupe PSA announced that it will commence its Indian operations with the Citroen brand early next year. Earlier, it was scheduled to enter India in the second half of 2020. Due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the company has postponed its plan. The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV will be the first product from the French carmaker in the country. The 5-seater SUV will be brought here via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route.
While official details of the India-spec Citroen C5 Aircross are yet to be revealed, a media report claims that it will come with diesel-automatic gearbox combination. At the heart of the SUV will be a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel motor that’s good enough for 180bhp. Transmission duties will be done by an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Earlier, the carmaker was considering smaller capacity 131bhp, 1.5L diesel engine for the Indian market. Though, now it has been dropped.
In India, the Citroen C5 Aircross will be made available in a single, fully-loaded variant. The list of features might include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted controls, a 360 degree camera and keyless entry and start. On the safety front, the C5 Aircross (global-spec) offers multiple airbags, park assist, hill start assist, hill descent assist, electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control, cross traffic detection, emergency braking and lane monitoring system.
The overall length, width and height of the SUV stand at 4500mm, 1840mm and 1670mm respectively. It makes it 25mm longer and 10mm taller than the Hyundai Tucson. In fact, its wheelbase (2730mm) is 60mm longer than the Tucson. The C5 Aircross has a ground clearance of 230mm.
