Citroen C5 Aircross India Launch During Festive Season 2020
Groupe PSA has officially started its India operations in joint venture with CK Birla Group. The company has opted for Citroen nameplate to expand its automobile business in India. The C5 Aircross SUV is the brand’s first model to be launched in our market. The Citroen C5 Aircross SUV has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. The French automaker has also announced to launch one new vehicle in our market every year.
Speaking to Business Standard, Roland Bouchara, Senior VP sales and marketing, India, PCA Automobiles India Ltd, said that the first Citroen product will go on sale in our market in the second half of 2020. It is expected that the Citroen C5 Aircross will be launched during festive season, around Diwali 2020.
In India, the C5 Aircross will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Tucson and Volkswagen Tiguan. The SUV will be introduced in our market as a CKD unit. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 16 lakh – Rs 22 lakh. Measuring 4.50m in length, the new Citroen C5 Aircross has a ground clearance of 230mm. In terms of styling, the premium SUV gets a sporty signature grille, two-tier full-LED headlamps with DRLs and indicators, floating roof, glossy black A and B pillars, dual-tone tail pipes and tailgate with spoiler.
Engine details of the new Citroen C5 Aircross are still under the wraps. It is expected to be offered wwith BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines with the standard 8-speed automatic gearbox. It is likely to get the new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The French carmaker will produce the engine and gearbox at its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu.
