Citroen C3 To Get An Update – More Features, Automatic Gearbox

Citroen had launched the locally developed C3 compact hatchback in the country in July 2022. The hatchback is offered in two engine options with a manual gearbox only. In fact, the Citroen C3 misses out on several features that are available in most of the cars in its league. It seems like Citroen will soon receive an update with multiple new features and automatic gearbox that are missing in current model.

Citroen is testing the C3 hatchback with new features like a rear wiper & wash system, a rear defogger and a set of alloy wheels. The outgoing model comes with steel wheels as standard, and alloys wheels are only offered with a dealer-fit option. It seems that the Citroen C3 will get these features as stock offering. The company could also add new features inside the cabin.

It is expected that Citroen could introduce a new top-spec trim, which will come with these key features. The current model is offered in two variants called Live and Feel. The Citroen C3 is available in two engine options – a 82bhp, 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol with 5MT and a 110bhp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol with 6MT. It is expected that the new C3 trim could also receive an automatic gearbox. The automatic gearbox is expected to be paired to the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine.

In terms of safety & security, the new C3 comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert, seat-belt reminder and others. The current model is priced at Rs 5.88 lakh for the base variant and Rs 8.15 lakh for the top-end turbo Feel variant. The hatchback with these features could receive a marginal price hike. The Citroen c3 rivals the Tata Punch, Maruti Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios along with the lower variants of the Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite.
