Citroen C3 Electric To Be Revealed By December 2022 – Report

Citroen has recently announced the prices of the new C3 hatchback, which is also the brand’s smallest and most affordable model in our market. The new model is based on the heavily localised CMP (Common Modular Platform), which is compatible with multiple body styles and powertrains including electric. We informed you earlier that Citroen is also preparing an all-electric car based on the C3 hatchback. A new media report claims that the new Citroen C3 electric could be unveiled by December 2022.

The CMP modular platform currently underpins the Peugeot e-208, which features a 50kWh battery pack in Europe. Coupled to an electric motor with an output of 136PS and 260Nm, the Peugeot e-208 is claimed to offer a range of up to 362km in Europe. It is expected that the upcoming Citroen C3 electric could get the same battery pack.

Citroen C3 Unveiled

Citroen could also offer multiple battery size options with the new C3 electric. The entry-level electric car could receive a smaller battery pack with a claimed range of around 300km. This will help Citroen to price the new model aggressively against the Tata Tigor EV.

The upcoming Citroen C3 electric is expected to be positioned as the more premium version of the C3 hatchback. It is likely to come with more basic features compared to the regular model. The EV is likely to get automatic AC, rear wiper and washer, electrically adjustable ORVMs, rear defogger and cruise control. Citroen could also make some EV-specific design changes.

The new C3 electric is expected to be launched by April 2023. The new model is likely to be priced around Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model will rival the Tata Tigor EV and the upcoming MG entry-level electric car. It could also challenge the Tata Nexon EV Prime, which is currently India’s best-selling electric model.
