French automaker, Citroen is reportedly to unveil its new compact SUV, codenamed CC21 for the Indian and Brazilian markets in May 2021. However, the company is yet to make an official announcement on the same. This SUV will be locally produced at CK Birla’s production facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Digital artist, KDesign has released a new rendering of the upcoming Citroen compact SUV. The new rendering is based on the C4 Cactus and the new C3 Aircross for the European markets. The new model will have the signature front fascia with split headlamp set-up and chrome front grille, sloping roof, and rounded rear profile.

The new Citroen C3 compact SUV spy images reveal that the new model will be positioned against the likes of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. The cabin pictures suggest that the SUV will come with features like multi-functional 3-spoke steering wheel, a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, push-button start/stop system, cruise control, automatic AC, digital instrument console, reverse camera, rear AC vents, powered ORVMs and others.

The new Citroen C3 compact SUV will be based on the new CMP platform, which is basically the simplified version of the Peugeot 208’s platform. This platform is compatible with different body styles and multiple engine options including electric and hybrid. This platform will also underpin a new mid-sized SUV, compact hatchback and a new sedan.

The Citroen CC21 could be the first model in India to feature flex-fuel system, which is compatible to feature a 1.2L petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel. The company believes that the small SUV could give Citroen a first-mover advantage in the flexi-fuel space in India.
