2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift – 6 Changes You Can Expect

Maruti Ciaz Facelift Changes Rear

New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will get new 1.5-litre petrol engine with SHVS mild-hybrid system.

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a range of new cars and facelifts of existing models in India in the next 2 years. Next model to go on sale is the facelifted version of the popular mid-sized sedan – Maruti Ciaz. This model has already been spotted testing several times and the production of the car has also been started. Media reports claim that the sedan will go on sale in the first week of August 2018, while bookings will start in July 2018. The company aims to create an additional stock before launching the updated Ciaz in the market. Here we list 6 big changes you can expect in the new Maruti Ciaz facelift

New Petrol Engine

The Ciaz facelift will come with a new 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine instead of a 1.4-litre K14 petrol engine. The same engine will also power the new-generation Ertiga, which was unveiled at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque.

Petrol + SHVS (Mild-Hybrid)

The Ciaz petrol will be the first car in its category to feature SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild-hybrid technology. With SHVS technology, the Ciaz petrol could be highly fuel efficient. The sedan will be benefitted with smart hybrid features such as idle engine start/stop system, power assist and brake energy regeneration. Premium Interior

Similar to the outgoing Ciaz, the new model will have a dual-tone interior scheme in a combination of beige and black. The new model will have new faux trim, cruise control features with button on the steering wheel, headrests for the rear seat occupants and revised infotainment system. The sedan also gets a revised instrument panel with speedometer and tachometer having blue needles.

New Front Design

Talking about exterior, the updated Ciaz gets majority of the changes at the front. The front fascia comes with a sharper design featuring sleeker upper grille, chrome bonnet garnish, re-profiled headlamps, sculpted bonnet, aggressive bumper with chrome detailing and inverted lower air-intake. The vehicle also gets newly styled alloy wheels and revised tail-lamps. Also See – Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India

Sunroof

The outgoing model misses out on sunroof, while its direct competitors – Honda City and Hyundai Verna – offers this popular feature. The updated Ciaz will come equipped with this feature.

Diesel Engine?

Previous reports claim that the new Ciaz facelift will also mark the debut of Maruti’s in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. However, latest development suggests that the sedan will continue to feature the existing 1.3-litre MJD + SHVS unit. The new engine will only come by 2019.
