The Chevrolet Beat Activ will come with two powertrains – a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel – borrowed from the Beat hatchback.
The Chevrolet Beat Activ crossover will face competition from cars like Mahindra KUV100 & upcoming Maruti Ignis.
November 17, 2016 – General Motors has revealed the production ready version of the Chevrolet Spark Activ (called Chevrolet Beat Activ in India) at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Earlier, the American carmaker gave a glimpse of the crossover’s production-spec via an official image. In India, the Chevrolet Beat Activ might hit showrooms sometime next year. Reports suggest that General Motors might begin its production at its Talegaon plant in the second half of 2016.
Based on the Chevrolet Beat hatchback, the Beat Activ crossover borrows some of its design elements and features from the hatchback sibling. Though the specifications and technical details are still under the wrap, the crossover is likely to carry the Beat’s 1.2-litre SMARTECH petrol and a 1.0-litre SMARTECH diesel powertrain.
In India, the Chevrolet Beat crossover might see a release sometime next year. Though, there is no official confirmation about the launch timeline of the vehicle.

Similar to the new-generation Beat hatchback, the Beat Activ has been designed on the company’s new design philosophy. The production version of the car shares multiple design features with the concept unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Up front, the car gets sweptback LED headlamps, large fog lamps with chrome bezels, a new dual-port grille with Chevrolet’s hallmark, silver skid plate and a beefy bumper.
The car also features black plastic cladding on the lower half of the bumper and plastic underbody cladding on the sides. The sharp creases below the shoulder line and above the rear wheel arches, new ORVMs, alloy wheels and a high ground clearance add more to its sporty appearance. Towards the rear, the crossover wears a roof mounted glossy black spoiler, plastic cladded rear bumper with rear skid plate and reflectors and new wrap rounding tail lamps with LED lights.
The interior of the Beat Activ crossover looks largely identical to the new Beat (aka Spark). The car gets a dual-tone black and silver theme, new steering wheel and a motorbike-inspired instrument cluster. Feature-wise, the US-spec model has been loaded with a bunch of goodies such as an infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration compatibility, remote keyless entry, cruise control, power windows, air conditioning, rear view camera, etc. The India-spec version might get trapezoidal air vents, color-coded trim, high-quality seat fabrics and a Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with 7-inch display.
In India, the Chevrolet Beat crossover might come with two powertrains – a 1.2-litre SMARTECH petrol and a 1.0-litre SMARTECH diesel. These engines also power the outgoing Beat hatchback. Though, Chevrolet might tune both the powertrains for achieving better performance and extra power figures. On the hatchback, the petrol mill produces a maximum power of 76.8bhp and 106.5Nm of torque, while the diesel motor delivers 56.3bhp with 142.5Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be taken care of by the same 5-speed manual gearbox.
