Unlike the global new-gen model, the India-bound new Chevrolet Beat 2017 underpins the existing platform.
Clearer pictures of the new Chevrolet Beat 2017 hatchback have surfaced ahead of its launch early this year. Interestingly, the spotted prototype was painted in a new orange shade that will join the existing colour band. Besides this, the vehicle also features new grille with chrome accents, pronounced lower lip, re-designed headlamps, fog lamps, pinched bonnet and revised rear bumper. Though no interior images emerged yet, it is likely to get a touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth audio and telephone controls.
The 2017 Chevrolet Beat will retain the current 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine, while the petrol version might get the downsized version of the 1.4-litre, four-cylinder EcoTech motor. GM also has an option to retain the same 1.2-litre SMARTECH petrol engine. More details on the exact engine options will be revealed closer to its launch. Unlike the global new-gen model, that is based on a new platform, the one coming to India underpins the existing one’s platform. Also Read: Chevrolet Beat Active – All You Need To Know

The entry-level variant of the hatchback is likely to be priced as low as Rs 4.20 lakh, while the diesel models might range between Rs 5 lakh – Rs 6.50 lakh. Under the hood, the 2017 Chevrolet Beat will remain the same. The hatchback will continue to carry the 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel motor that’s good for 57bhp and 150Nm of torque. Though, the petrol motor could be a new one – 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder – which is likely to be the downsized version of the Spark’s 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine. Having said that, the company might also retain the existing 79bhp, 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both the engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The dimensions of the new Beat might remain unchanged.
|Seating Capacity||5 Passengers|
|Boot Space||170 litres|
|Fuel Tank capacity||35 litres|
While the platform might remain unchanged, the new Chevrolet Beat 2017 has gone through some design upgrades. The front fascia has a refreshing appeal, thanks to its new headlamps, revised bumper, new grille with chrome accents, re-designed fog lamps and a pinched bonnet. While the alloy wheels remain unchanged, there are new creases and lines. The rear profile, too, has been revised with new bumper and reflectors. As mentioned above, the new Beat will get a new Orange shade along with existing seven colours – Sandrift Grey, Caviar Black, Cocktail Green, Linen Beige, Summit White, Super Red and Switch Blade Silver.
Unlike the current Beat’s cabin that has single tone colour theme with silver inserts around three-spoke steering wheel and dashboard, the Chevrolet Beat 2017 will have dual tone (beige and black) interior and dashboard. There is a new instrument cluster with chrome accents, fabric beige seats, a new center console design with larger HVAC vents and silver trim and chrome bezel HVAC vents. Major highlight will include a new 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system that is most likely to be offered only on the top-spec model of the hatchback.
The car might also see material quality improvement. The features that the 2017 Beat is likely to retain are instrument cluster (analog speedometer and digital pod for tachometer) and three-spoke steering wheel with mounted control buttons. The new-gen model will also have enough storage space to offer such as glove-box, cup-holders on centre console, and a utility hole on the centre console. Since there will be no change in vehicle’s dimensions, the third row seat could remain congested for three adults.
