Changan CS75 SUV – MG Hector Rival Is Likely To Come To India

We reported earlier that the Chinese SUV and electric car manufacturer, Changan Automobile is planning to enter the Indian auto market. SAIC Motor Corporation has already entered our market, while Great Wall Motors will showcase its products at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. If media reports are to be believed, Changan Automobile with enter our market by the end of 2022.

The Chinese brand is expected to launch 2 new SUVs – the Changan CS75 and a compact SUV that willl challenge the Hyundai Creta. The CS75 is one of the best-selling SUVs currently on sale in the Chinese market. The current generation model was launched in 2016. We believe that the next-gen model could be introduced in our market.

The Changan CS75 will directly rival the MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and the Mahindra XUV500. The SUV measures 4,650mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,705mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2700mm. In terms of proportions, the SUV is quite similar to Hector which is 4,655mm long, 1,835mm wide and 1,760mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,750mm.

In the Chinese market, the Changan CS75 is available with 2 petrol engines – a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 155bhp and 240Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine delivers 155bhp and 200Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automated manual transmission. While the manual version is available in 2WD and 4WD system, the automatic version only gets 2WD layout.

The SUV is fitted with high-end safety features including Blind spot monitoring system, tire pressure monitoring system, intelligent visible parking assist system, six airbags, electric parking brake control, Electronic stability control, etc.
