Volkswagen to Launch 6 New Cars in India Within Next Couple of Years

Upcoming New Volkswagen Cars 2017 & 2018

November 29, 2016 – Volkswagen is planning to improve its sales in the growing Indian market. The company had showcased a range of new cars at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, out of which the VW Ameo and new Vento have already been launched. The German automaker is planning to bring in at least 3 all new models and some facelifts in the next couple of years.

Here is the complete list of upcoming new Volkswagen cars in India in 2017, 2018.

1. New Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen Passat Diesel

Volkswagen, the German automaker will bring in the next generation Passat sedan in India next year. Reports suggest that the company will introduce the hybrid version of the saloon – VW Passat GTE hybrid. However, VW has imported the diesel powered model; indicating that the Passat diesel will also make its way to India. As a reminder, the Volkswagen GTE plug-in hybrid made its appearance at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo.

The new generation Passat is slightly shorter (by 2mm) than the previous model, but its wheelbase has been extended by 79mm. The increased wheelbase translates into a spacious cabin and bigger boot area. The updated model is 14mm lower and 12mm wider, and offers an improved luggage space of 586 litres (up by 26-litres). The saloon’s new model is 80kg lighter than the previous generation model.

Talking about features, the saloon has standard LED taillights and optional LED headlamps featuring Dynamic Light Assist. Inside the cabin, the sedan receives Audi TT’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display. Power for the new Passat will continue to come from the same a 2.0-litre twin-turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine. This motor is capable of putting out power worth 236.7bhp against a peak torque of 500Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels of the sedan via a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
