BSA Motorcycles To Be Re-Launched With A New 650cc Engine

Mahindra & Mahindra backed Classic Legends will re-introduce the iconic Yezdi Motorcycle brand before the end of this year. A new media report claims that engineering teams at Class Legends have also developed a 650cc engine for the upcoming BSA Motorcycles. Yes, the BSA Motorcycles will be re-introduced as a premium motorcycle brand.

The new 650cc engine is in advanced stages of testing and will power premium BSA motorcycles. Person close to the development claims that the new middleweight engine would power the motorcycles planned for the revival of the BSA. The new engine with BSA prototype is currently in testing phase. This engine will be compliant with Euro 5 emission norms, which is mandatory in Europe. Classic Legends will first introduce the BSA Motorcycles in the European market.

BSA Motorcycle Launch

The report also claims that the new BSA Motorcycles for Europe will be manufactured in India and assembled overseas. Adding to it, a dedicated assembly line for the premium BSA motorcycles has been set up at the Pithampur plant. The launch timeline for the new BSA bikes are yet to be announced. If all goes well, the new motorcycle in production-ready avatar could be presented at EICMA 2021 in Milan later this year.

Classic Legends has secured funding of GBP 4.6 million from the UK government. The company has set up a technical and design centre in the UK, and is recruiting engineers across different domains. The company is also reportedly working on an electric motorcycle under the BSA brand.

We reported earlier that Classic Legends will first launch a regular BSA motorcycle in 2021-22, which will be followed by an electric BSA in 2022. However, the plans could be delayed by few months due to COVID-19 pandemic.
