BS6 – Renault Duster & Captur To Go Petrol Only; Lodgy To Discontinue
Renault’s 1.5L K9K turbocharged diesel engine will be discontinued in India as the BS6 emission norms kick in from 1st April, 2020. It’s the only diesel powertrain in the carmaker’s lineup that does duty in the Renault Duster and Captur SUVs. In fact, the carmaker has dropped its plan to roll out the Captur with a CVT automatic gearbox.
At the launch of Triber subcompact MPV, the French carmaker confirmed that it will also discontinue the Lodgy that takes on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Mahindra Marazzo. The MPV failed to match up the unit sales that the company had thought it would. The Renault Lodgy used the same platform as the Duster SUV.
The Lodgy comes with a 1.5L K9K turbocharged diesel engine that’s tuned for generating two different power outputs – 85bhp with 200Nm and 108bhp with 240Nm. While the 85bhp version is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 108bhp model gets a 6-speed manual transmission. Currently, the Renault Lodgy is available in four trims (STD, RXE, RXL and RXZ) and 7 variants with 7 and 8-seats configurations. Read – 2020 Renault Captur Revealed
As of now, the carmaker is gearing up to launch the Kwid facelift that will go on sale by the end of next month. Renault will also bring in an all-new subcompact SUV (codenamed Renault HBC) to challenge Hyundai Venue and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The small SUV might make its global debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo in February.
